On August 14th, the vibrant Makoko Community was transformed into a haven of joy, laughter, and celebration as the SLUM KIDS FEST summer edition made its grand debut in Lagos, Nigeria. This heartwarming event which is an initiative of the Julikol Foundation and this edition was brought to you by Bigfoot Cares, was a resounding success, uniting children and families in a day of unforgettable activities and impactful moments.
The SLUM KIDS FEST, known for its commitment to bringing joy and positive experiences to underserved communities, kicked off its summer edition with the same enthusiasm and dedication that marked its inaugural event. Held earlier this year on May 24th in Beere, Ibadan, Oyo State, and powered by Triumph Petroleum and M-One Security, the festival continues to expand its reach and impact across Nigeria and Africa.
The summer edition in Makoko was a showcase of community spirit and the power of collective effort. The event featured a wide array of activities designed to engage and entertain, including games, educational workshops, competitions and performances that captivated the children and their families. Attendees enjoyed a variety of food items, received gifts, and experienced a strong sense of community that showed the strength and resilience of the Makoko area..
Oluwaseun Oluwajana, fondly known as Seun Jana, the visionary behind SLUM KIDS FEST and Director of the Julikol Foundation, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support received. “This festival is not just about providing a day of fun; it’s about igniting hope and inspiration in the hearts of these children,” Seun Jana shared. “I am deeply moved by the generosity of our partners, Bigfoot Cares, and the tireless efforts of our volunteers.
